I started doing this because I was reading a lot about it and how it can help to balance good vs bad bacteria in the mouth. I felt like my teeth were noticeably whiter immediately and my mouth just had a much better taste in general. However, I really enjoy the taste of coconut oil. After about one month of doing it every morning for the full 20 minutes, I realized that I hadn't had an IBS episode for a couple of weeks, which is rare for me. I've been doing it for 2 months now and have only had bowel issues once, after a heavy night of drinking and eating french fries at 4am.

Sunflower Oil Works Great!

My overall health, including IBS, had improved drastically after oil pulling with sunflower oil every morning (or at least 5x per week) for 2 months. The only downside is that it tastes gross and can get annoying to swish for the full 20 minutes. The only downside is that it tastes gross and can get annoying to swish for the full 20 minutes. Also remember that symptoms of everything will get worse before getting better with homeopathic remedies! But it's cheap and easy so stick with it.

Not Worth It!

I've heard this has amazing results, but I just couldn't hack the nastiness of swishing sunflower oil in my mouth for 20 minutes. It made me vomit every time... if you can hack it more power to you... but beware that it is disgusting! I also tried olive oil and sesame oil. Same results.
